DRUGS

DRUGS....

Even though I thought I knew about drugs pretty well, I was surprised at how much I learned. The basics of drug abuse are pretty much the same. Kids either do drugs because they want to escape some sort of problem they have at home, or somewhere else. Sometimes because they are pressured to do so. Or simply because they want to try something new.

two-voice poem

Drugs
It helps me get away.
I have to, or else......

My world
A living hell......
Great except for when they get to me.

My dream..
Getting as far away as possible, from my family.
To finish college and be someone, as well as getting
rid of my "friends".

why?
To help me forget about "home." it brings peace to me.
Not because i want to, but because i like living

When will it stop?
When, I don't know, but soon because sometimes I lose it.
and that's when I really stop thinking....when I lose control....
NEVER, my secret friends show up whenever, to do whatever.
so i guess its up to me how long, so far i still haven't.

reflection:

I wrote my two-voice poem on drugs because I feel like this is one huge problem

that teens face these days. They either take drugs because they want to, or because

they are forced to. Our community should be able to notice when a child is taking

drugs. They should help them and try to figure out their reasons. Not just punish

them. I fell like this is a major issue and that we should help.

A tree grows in brooklyn

I am Reading the book A tree grows in Brooklyn, by Betty smith   I have(so far) really enjoyed this book very much. so far i have read about the main character named Francie. Francie and her family... The Nolans, live in brooklyn back in 1902. they live in the 'slums of  williamsburg' back then Francie and her brother Neely, didnt have any doubt as to what being poor felt like. In fact they knew more about being poor than they should have, at that age anyway.
Francie  Is a very interesting girl. as she grows up she begins to develop, or gain some wisdom. she starts to see the way things are a bit differently, than when she was younger. as she develops this wisdom, she tries to be more open minded than she orgianally was. when francie was younger she and her brother used to walk around looking down at the floor trying to see if they got lucky and foung some change to buy the cheapest candy at that time......cherry mints.
i dont have the main focus yet because i just started bu im pretty sure that the main point is probably poverty. so for now thats all i have so far.

social action post

For my article i wrote about football players, and how their lives can be decreased, because of severe concussions that they may suffer during practice or a game. these concussions make the football players have severe head trauma. This long term affect can effect their physical as well as their mental health. this is a serious issue because it can lead to other mental diseases. like hemorrhage in the skull. this would eventually lead to death.
football players!!!:0

This is an issue because if these football player coaches don't do anything right that second, it can most likely begin to be the cause of many more head injuries such as: concussions, head trauma, and internal bleeding in the brain. these types of injuries can be prevented or treated in many ways. one way  take to take of a situation like this is to treat it right away. take this player, (no matter what the sport.) right away to the closest hospital.
football players bumping heads...concussion!!!!!!!

All football players should wear gear protection such as helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads. helmets don't always prevent head injuries but they do help alot. so if you play a sport that is like football, remember to always wear your protective gear.

The Giver

I am currently reading The Giver, by lois lowry. i didn't think that i would enjoy this book that much, because it looked rally boring. turns out that i do actually enjoy so far how the book is being told. the main character who is Jonas, is selected to be the next memory receiver they tell him that this will be very painful in many indescribable ways. the elders Say that they know that they have chosen well because the receiver needs courage and wisdom. some qualities that Jonas will either learn to develop or already has.
Jonas is afraid, but doesn't regret being chosen for this job. he feels lots of honor because not everybody gets chosen for this job very often. in his first day of training he experiences lots of new things. he later learns that he has many qualities that other citizens in sameness ( their village name.)don't have. one of these qualities that he is developing is the ability to see color. his first color was to be red.  while i was reading the book i wondered why the first color that he was seeing had to be red. maybe the author did it intentionally or maybe he just happened to choose the color red.
Anyway so far in two days i am 3/4 of the book done. i recommend this book. its really good. i had never read a lois lowry book before but i really enjoyed this book so i will try to read his book more often.
